A Blustery Teenage Day for Noah

Day 4 - Photo 4. This is Noah, son 2 of 2, child 3 of 3 and our last baby. Though today he became a teenager. He'd just woke up and was sitting at the table sipping a cup of coco. Comfort food on a nippy overcast morning. I really liked the cool (as in other side of the pillow cool) light falling on his face and the warm glow of incandescents from the kitchen behind him.

Okay I'm looking at my photos and realize three out the four are family photos...counting the hound. Am I lazy? Am I not stretching my mind enough? Maybe I need to wander out into the world a bit? I'm still feeling challenged and I don't feel as though I've let myself down. We'll see.

So, one frame yes. But, I took a couple of light readings off my hand (is that cheating?) before I made the exposure. I used a 50mm f/1.8 Nikon series E lens on the Nikon D2Xs set at ISO 100.

this is a great pic, not just of noah but of that very odd stage of entering the world of teenage-ism. it really captures the bewilderment of that moment in all of our lives when we leave the world of toys and coco and enter the one filled with insecurity. great work! my only critique would be to leave out the info in regards to the camera settings. for me that makes it to technical, and i don't care how you make an image. i am only concerned with the image. let it speak for itself, as this one definitely does.

While I agree with you regarding the info for the camera settings (and that's why I posted it at the end) some of the people I've invited are just starting their photo careers and thought they could find it useful. Thanks Tony!

Teach your children well...so the song goes. Someday, somewhere, someone will hand them a hot glue gun, without the slightest regard for whether or not they can handle it. People such as this are unavoidable and the skeptical child eyes them with an equal measure of awe and apprehension.

This is my favorite! You really captured the sensitive Noah. Although, seeing Noah quiet is a bit out of character!

I really LOVE the color in this photo... The blues in your son's eyes and shirt, the auburn in his hair and the chair, the strong yellow in the background. It's a very inviting photo, balanced out by his rather intense expression, especially in the eyes.

Very cool.

nice work.

it's your relationship with your son we are seeing. the trust and love. and also you. we see you in noah, literally and figuratively.
