I never throw an image away...never. But, I have to admit, I used to. When it comes time to clean off those flashcards, I simply download, name it, burn it and store it. And every once in awhile I find an image that I overlooked on the first go around. I was cleaning off a card today and found two such images. It is not that I forgot taking them or even looking at and editing them. I just happened to like another photo better on that particular day. The first image is from the Getty in Los Angeles during mine and Georgia's anniversary "staycation." And the second is my youngest Noah during a recent photo shoot.
Digital has made us lazy in some fashion. I do remember exercising far more care in editing photos. Leaning over the light table, loupe in hand, scouring over the negatives and looking for that one particular image that you knew you had. We tended to shoot and edit more responsibly. I am really trying not to over use the screen on the back of the camera to "chimp" merrily along, you can miss a photo.
