And Now For Something Total Different!

I opened an email today to find that my blog had been named one of the top 50 blogs for Photo and Journalism. My first reaction was somewhat suspicious. My blog? My little old blog? Reading the announcement was akin to the emails offering cheap drugs from Canada, or why I need Viagra, or how to grow my...right. Or, how about the email from Zimbabwe presuming me to inherit the long lost treasures of a far flung distance relative?

My first compulsion was to run out "snap a photo" and update the blog. Instead I've decided to celebrate this auspicious, though somewhat still suspect, occasion with "something completely different," "outside the box," or non-photographic? Sitting through the afternoon newspaper meeting planning the next day's paper, I doodled a self-portrait whilst adding the colour later to post on my page. They've even offered me a "stinking badge" to display on my blog, which I have, and suspect by doing so have provided a link to their website, Guide to Online Schools. This folds in well with my new mentor, hero and sensei...William Shatner, aka James T. Kirk. Over the years Shatner has continually reinvented himself and found renewed success. He seemingly never shies away from making fun of himself...and he never takes himself too seriously. So with a nod to Bill Shatner and his self-promoting front man pitch for Priceline...I figured...
