If a Tree Falls in the Forest...

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise? It seems like a silly question and I'm certain we all have friends, family or coworkers who would be willing to debate what ever answer you have to the question.

So, if a group has a rally supporting the DREAM Act, and the media isn't there to report the story, does the group's story get told? And even more perplexing, if the only people attending the rally, besides the group, is the media, do we report on it and shoot photos? I suppose it could be argued that the group would have rallied even if they had been the only ones in attendance. So, it is really of little consequence then that we report on it.

I suppose then that the tree does make a noise.

FYI, in case you're keeping track of my technological exploits, this photo was made with my much loved and well used Nikon D2Hs. I purposely underexposed the scene yet the highlights are still blown out. And the shadow detail has a little bit of digital noise in it. Properly managed and expose, though challenging, the D2Hs will still produce usable images. For news print anyway.

i didn't learn of the DreamAct until after they had already begun walking to DC. wish i had heard of them before that, would've loved to have documented their walk, etc.

and i, also, believe trees still make noise.
