Honoring Our Veterans

Ralph Fuchs, 86, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, enjoys a light moment Thursday November 11, 2010 during a Veteran's Day ceremony at the Villas at San Bernardino, a senior living assisted facility in San Bernardino, California. Fuchs is one of more than a dozen veterans living at the facility.

As I photographed these Veterans the other day, it occurred to me, I realized once again the undeniable bond that Veterans share.

Can any of us look around the office and say you'd lay down your life for your fellow coworkers? Or they, yours.

These people did and should be honored for that. Thank you!

Irene McEllistrim, 86, a retired U.S. Army brigadier general, was honored Thursday November 11, 2010 during a Veteran's Day ceremony at the Villas at San Bernardino. McEllistrim was the first female brigadier general in the California Army National Guard.

Irene McEllistrim is my aunt, my mother's sister. We are all very proud of her service and her long career as a nurse.

Thank you for posting these pix of our veterans.

Our heartfelt thanks for her service! As she is laid to rest, we pray her family is comforted knowing she has paved the way for so many others.
